Jonathan Hauerwas comes to St. James to serve as our permanent full time pastor from Worthington Presbyterian Church in Ohio where he served as an associate pastor for four years. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of South Carolina. After earning a B.A. degree in History in 2002, Jon spent one year in Edinburgh, Scotland serving a homeless hostel as a Young Adult Volunteer commissioned by the Presbyterian Church (USA). Following that experience, he attended Princeton Theological Seminary where he received a Master's of Divinity degree in 2006. He and his wife, Kara, have a son named William "Liam" who was born in 2010.

Kara Hauerwas grew up in Oak Harbor, Washington. She is a graduate of Pepperdine University with a degree in International Business and holds a degree in Accounting from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio. Previously she was employed as the Office Manager for Montana de Luz, a home for children with HIV/AIDS in Honduras.

Jon wanted to serve a church that was open and affirming with a strong emphasis upon mission service and a willingness to consider new ways of being the church. He looks to the future with great joy, anticipation, and hope for what is to come.

The Rev. Tamalyn Kralman, Minister of Educational Programs Pastor Tam joined the staff of Saint James Presbyterian in May of 2007. A lifelong advocate for and participant and leader in church, Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School, her love of educational opportunities in the church began early. An ordained pastor in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) she did her undergraduate work at Northwest Christian College and the University of Oregon. She received a Master of Arts in Religious Education from Claremont School of Theology, completing extra coursework for ordination. She has served churches in Washington, Oregon, Montana, and California. Pastor Tam is married to the Rev. Gary A. Shoemaker, pastor of First Christian Church. They are the parents of two grown children, son Zach and daughter Brett.  In addition to spending time with her family (2 and 4 legged members), Tam enjoys reading, writing, camping, and, of course, more reading! If you would like to contact Pastor Tam, please call the church office or e-mail ministered@saintjamespres.org.
Natasha Orme, Secretary Natasha is a Washington girl, but she didn't stay here long. When she was eight she and her family moved to American Samoa. Her favorite memories of being there are of being the only white person in her class and swimming in the warm ocean. From there the family moved to Anchorage, where she spent her teenage years. There she skied and enjoyed the snow. The call of the beach took her to San Diego State University, but the love of skiing later drew her to University of Colorado Boulder. (Oh, yeah, that and a love of education!) Natasha made a full circle, returning to Bellingham and the church she grew up in (Central Lutheran). She joined our staff in 2008. office@saintjamespres.org
Becky Shipe, Youth Leader I grew up in Bothell north of Seattle. When at home, I live with my two parents, my grandmother, my younger sister (who attends Whitworth University in Spokane) and my dog. The past two years I spent at Cascadia Community College in Bothell. In 2010 I transferred to Western Washington University as a Junior. I find Saint James stunning. I have some awesome ideas for getting the youth more involved in church activities as well as some fun and interesting fundraising ideas. I know, who thought fundraising could be fun? I also look forward to creating a space where they feel safe, included and welcome. Please feel free to contact me via email (youth@saintjamespres.org) with any questions, comments or concerns you may have. My ear is always open to suggestions from anyone. Children as young as 3 have given me some of my best ideas and adults of all ages have helped me realize things I never would have thought of on my own. I am very excited to become a part of the Saint James church family and I hope that I will become friends with many of you.
