Community Building Use

As a part of our mission, St. James makes its space available for community groups, outside organizations, and other non-profits to use for meetings and events as community resource in the Fairhaven neighborhood. Generally we charge a small use fee to reimburse some of our actual costs. The fee is applied by the Building and Grounds Committee.

If you are interested in using our space, please contact the St. James office using the form below and we will send you the proper forms for requesting the use of our facilities.

Our Hosted Outside Groups include:

  • Our motto is “music self played is happiness self made”, and the ukulele is just about the happiest instrument in the world. The Bellingham Ukulele Group (BUG) meets at St James downstairs in the big hall on the first Saturday of the month. (September will be the 2nd Saturday because of the holiday). Our regular meeting is from 3:00 to 5:00 and we have a beginners introductory session at 2:00 for people who want to get started on the ukulele. We have loaner ukuleles so you can come and try one out. We ask for a small donation to cover the cost of the room. BUG meetings are open to any one who would like to strum and sing and have a lot of fun.

  • At Bayside Co-op Preschool, our families are supported in a rich, warm and loving environment. Children develop their language, social, emotional, and problem-solving skills in a warm, happy environment that offers art, singing, music, movement, stories, and activities. They will explore early literacy, science, and math while developing social, gross and fine motor skills.

  • “Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.

    “The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions.

    “AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes.

    “Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.*”

    • SOS AA Men’s Group Wednesdays – 7:00 PM

    • AA Fairhaven Group Thursdays – 7:30 PM, Sundays – 7:30 PM

    Al-Anon Family Groups are a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength, and hope, in order to solve their common problems. We believe alcoholism is a family illness, and that changed attitudes can aid recovery.

    Meetings:

    • Happy Hour Al-Anon 1st & 3rd Tuesdays 4 PM

    • OA Overeaters Anonymous Saturdays – 9 AM

  • Meets every Monday from 6:45 -8:45 PM

  • Meets every Tuesday from 7:30-9 PM

  • Meetings announced

  • Monthly meetings are held September through June on the second Wednesday of each month.

    Meetings are held at St. James Presbyterian Church’s lower-level meeting room begin at 7 p.m. with a social time that starts at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free.
