CHRISTIAN FAITH FORMATION
Submitted by Tracy Caruso, Children & Family Ministry Director
Greetings from the Director of Children and Family Ministries!
Fall is officially here, and we are looking at a very busy one indeed.
Our Godly Play classroom is following the sermon series, and it’s been fun to dive a little deeper into some of the stories we don’t tell a lot. We are looking for help with subs in the nursery and anyone who is interested in becoming a Godly Play storyteller or door person.
The Youth group met with a small group for pizza and discussion this month and we are looking at ways to have youth group twice a month. If you are interested in helping with our youth, please let Tracy know cfm@saintjamespres.org
This year, we will be inaugurating the St. James Children’s Choir, directed and accompanied by Leah Bruno. Children of any age may join, and those who may be shy are encouraged to bring an adult for support! Although regular attendance is encouraged, the choir is meant to be low-pressure, and kids who will not be present every Sunday may still join. Ample time will be given to learn each piece.
- Who: children of any age (accompanying adults welcome!)
- When: weekly, directly following the Sunday service; beginning October 5th
- Where: sanctuary @ St. James Presbyterian
- What: Rehearsals will start with fun warm-up activities.
- Contact: Leah Bruno music@saintjamespres.org
Pub theology is back! We will meet the 2nd and 4th Mondays from 630-730 at Stemma West. Jimmy and Jessica Parks will facilitate a discussion with questions related to the previous week’s sermon as well as current events. This is not a lecture or Bible study, but an opportunity to have an open discussion in a relaxed, welcoming setting. There will be childcare at Stemma. Please reach out to jimmyjamesjimbo@gmail.com if you have any questions.
We are holding a family game night and potluck on October 10th from 6-8. Bring your favorite board or card games and a dish or snack to share!
The Deacons will be hosting their annual parish lunch on October 26th following worship, they will be providing a baked potato bar for everyone to enjoy. We will also be holding a Ministry fair for all the session committees to share what they are about and encourage everyone to get involved with all that happens at St. James.
It is going to be a busy month, but we are so excited for all the events and energy we have surrounding St. James. If you have any questions about any of the events please let me know at cfm@saintjamespres.org.
